Female investors led crypto growth in Australia in 2021

There have always been concerns about representation and gender diversity in the crypto space. However, a recent report shows that women might be leading the charge in the Australian crypto industry.

According to the report by Australian cryptocurrency exchange, Bitcoin Markets (BTCM), the growth of the crypto market in 2021 was driven by female investors referred to as “crypto queens.”

The BTCM Investor Study Report 2021 contains a detailed analysis of data from the BTCM exchange for 2021, divided by demographics (age, gender, and investor type) to anonymously examine and analyse cryptocurrency investment habits among its 325,000 customers.

The report states that the “crypto queens” on the platform have grown more rapidly than male investors. Female investors increased by 126% compared to male investors, who increased by 83%

According to the report, a lot of new users for BTCM in 2021 came from Australia’s mature and wealthy population (45 to 59 years old).

BTCM also reported that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) were to be the most traded tokens on the platform in 2021, while Tether (USDT) recently emerged as one of the top five traded cryptocurrencies. BTCM believes that the significant growth is due to more investors recognising the utility of cryptocurrencies.

The influx of Australian women into crypto is a good thing for the country because the industry needs a lot of diversity and inclusion to realise its full potential. Like the rest of the world, Australians are beginning to see the utility of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. The crypto and blockchain gospel is spreading.
